Camps after camps .. I betta start blogging b4 I finally forget the details!
Artstasy - Arts Camp 2005
Pre-CampI was roped in quite last minute to be house i/c and I'd much hesitation and pple who knows me know that I m not that 'rara'. I can be crazy at times but being all rara is something not quite familiar. Moreover, I joined as a councillor to be with the rest of my frenz who were together in my same OG when we were freshies : FUNIS!
Finally, I agreed to be hse i/c! But that will mean I will have to leave Arlo house and be Trottus House I/C and all my frenz were in Arlo...
I had to trouble the o-comm and poor Yuyan to transfer the whole grp of my frenz from Arlo to Trottus!
All things happen for a reason: Now seeing that Tragon (this grp of dear frenz) bonding so well with their freshies and emerging as the BEST OG in the entire camp, all those troubles did not go to waste!
And wad did JOnny say?
"Then maybe I shld pull out of the camp!" Wah.. Jonny.. if u had pulled out then tat's it! No more Tragonites and no more fun!
Pre-camp was a bit slow and draggy and stuff... not exactly a good start to begin with.
ARTSTASY!The whole camp was AWESOME!
Day 1: Met up the freshies and started getting my 4 OGs to play ice-breaker and everyone warmed up very fast! I tink in less than half a day, the noise we were making was loud enough for the guys at Fong Seng to hear!
Let me who we are man! TROTTUS!
HEctic Day! SUper HEctic! Ran around for Campus Tour... pushing guys especially those quieter ones! Benjamin... u were one of them! In the end, much as I hate the cigarette smell, I had to sit with u when u smoke to get u to open up! In the end... u did! And I m glad, Telcan had bonded so well!
Day 2: Amazing Race.. the pace was a bit slow of amazing race but HECK! It was so fun and a lot more time for interaction! I bought 4 large drinks from McDOnald's for the OG I was with tat day.. THADEUS! Pool game was cool! WE had to do a butt dance.. typical but this time: the highlight was that I stripped into babyblue trunks and did it! Juz gotta be 'onz' and spontaneous and yes to all the camera guys.. THANKS! for capturing that! hahaha!
Dinner was like CANADIAN PIZZAs and hey! It aint juz cold pizzas.. they were piping HOT! with chilled soft drinks! it was WOW! and then Arlo and Trottus started cheering and b4 we knew it, there was a cheering competition and ppl and OGs performing on stage impromptus! That was like 2 hours? ANd gosh, it was not even the program for cheering competition!
That's the SPIRIT guys!
Day 3: Sentosa, needless to say! It was fun fun fun! With my Tragon OG winning every single station .. EVERY station can?
ANd I m proud to say this - Trottus was the only house when we did the house performance of sychronised swimming in the sea that all my freshies were willing to go down into the sea... every single one.. tat led my other dearest hse i/c Sylvia to tears on the break-camp day aint it? =)
Day 4: Sponsorship talk in the morning - so it was a good time to slack!
War games in the afternoon and I tell u .. some of them are like super violent la in the waterbomb station .. cant stand it.. poor Sylvia was so traumatised coz she was the one being bombed!
But I m so proud of the 4 female hse i/cs - Swilin, Peizhi, Charmaine and Sylvia... They had to be bombed yet still remain hyped-up!
At nite, the house i/cs did an item juz for the campers when they were having their SP dinner, saw a medey of 3 songs, adopted from other songs ...
Here's one of them... "U r our freshies,
We are house i/cs,
We are here to rara u

Rara us! COme on and rara us!
Rara us! Come on and rara us!

At the end of the item, Chonghan, the MC said: "Initially, I thought an SP dinner shld be quiet and romantic w/o cheering but wad the heck... can u guys juz clap and cheer for yr hse i/cs"
And the cheering n clapping was THUNDEROUS! I felt strong emotions surging and even as I am typing this, I can still feel it...
After dinner, we all went clubbing and I was liker high! 4 bottles of beer plus 1 house pour together with 1 jug of vodka coke!
Got back to sch, it was a pity I could not eat supper with Trottusians coz I was kinda GONE!
Break-CampI tell u .. break camp was filled with emotions. Hock broke down, so did Xuzi and surely I could tell that these guys and the o-comm had done their best for the camp so much so that nothing more could have been done!
Even as hse i/cs, we shared what they felt...
To appreciate them, we gathered a few gifts and presented them to the PD Hock and his 3 DPDs, Grace, Xuzi and PeiPei!
At the end of everything, Sylvia and I gathered all the Trottus guy to go to the dining hall to give them some stuff, to give every grp some 'wang-wang' biscuits for various title like "most tok-cock" OG etc etc..
ANd gosh, Sylvia broke down like crazy and tat led me to tears... boo hoo hoo..
AfterthoughtsI had hesitation being hse i/c at first but now aint I'm glad to have done so.. I may not be as closely bonded to the each and every individual OG but I learnt a lot of stuff... sometimes, it really aint juz abt winning but about working n bonding together and learning how to bring the spirit up when everyone was feeling down ...
It was then I learnt that leadership may be learnt... some pple does not have it naturally like me.. but it can be learnt!
It was then I learnt that I muz always be objective and rational in my mind... I must be in control esp. when games get all tenses up!
It was then I learnt I enjoy a life like this and hanging out with these bunch of great pple compared to some others I used to hang out with..
Despite a short 5 days camp with the freshies and maybe 2 weeks with the councillars, I can see something in these pple!
And here, I must thank SYLVIA for being a great hse i/c without whom I'll be so DEAD!
I muz thank all my OGLs and AOGLs : Caleb, Joy, James, Sity, Zonghan, Yanjun, KoKo and Eugene for helping me so much in breaking the ice and bonding the guys and of cuz with some admin work too!
Not to forget all my councillars who have been so cooperative and spontaneous!
And my best freshies! U guys made Trottus!
U guys made Trottus and tat's something I can look back to for years to come!
SporgasmCan I juz summarise this camp? Many of u have heard me bitch about this a lot of time!
It SUX!
Food: 1 meat + 1 veg.. tat's all!
Accom: Half of the campers have no room to stay on 2nd night.. so they fed mosquitoes in MPSH2.
Councillars: Not half as spontaneous (not all of them, but most of them). When I tried getting them to do an item for the freshies, they all gimme that "can dun want" kinda of face.
Rara-ness: DOWN DOWN DOWN! Gosh, pple can sit ard for an hour w/o any cheer!
Wanted to get the guys to cheer.. tat was abt midnite and they told us... now every late ahz.. dun cheer.. i was like WAD?
One more thing about food: it's 2 slices of BREAD everyday!
One more thing, Sentosa and Ubin tickets NOT INCLUDED in the camp fees, freaking cheated!
No dinner provided on bash nite.. no accom after bash...
That saves a lot of money and they r charging freshies the same as Arts Camp and the councillars $10 more than arts camp so.. one wonders where the money go to...
But nonetheless, it's still an ok camp provided u've not been to Arts Camp..
Honestly! Not 'cuz I'm frm Arts but really... I asked some of the freshies who had been to arts camp and they will tell u the SAME!
