Finally an update!

Been a long long time since I last blogged...have been so busy with tests, blogging (not this blogging but the academic kind of blogging where I will be graded), essay etc. Tdy, I had a lot terrible time during Econs lect...suddenly felt so lost with all the Forex theories..oh well... juz got back frm supper with ah Juv n Navi... n I heard the news from my Empress Ba...

She broke the news to me...

I was like...

Yes... Chris is out of Idol...oh well...not tat I cared...with one guy out, someone has returned into the entertainment scene...someone whom I've missed badly... SUN YAN ZI!!! Oh yea! Muz go get her album tomolo...!!!

Heard a story juz now and I tot tat I might want to blog it here, so here it goes:

X has been avoiding this person Y b'coz Y is totally tactless and kept making statements that make X uncomfy. Of coz, Y noticed this evasion on X's part! A mutual fren, W tried counselling them n get X to go talk to Y via Msn but oh well... Y gave a monosyllabic insincere answer so X din realli bother either... later on, another mutual fren (let's call him Z) messaged X to tell him not to bother Y.. i mean it sounds so duhzzzz (personal comment)

ConfuseD? Oh well..it's meant to be...

Hand and 'J'

Had dinner with the guys on sat at coffee club; dentoids and me realised something abt Ivan...He simply has a 'thing' with waiteress-es (i.e if u can idenitfy their gender), so this time round, he got a butchy lookin waitress serving us (by she has the blackest face ever in ALL aspects)... a trend there..seems like most waitresses there wear name tags that display 3-lettered names like 'IDA'. Juz the saturday b4, we had dinner at holland v at some bread cafe thingy, and this time Ivan got yet another butchy lookin waitress named 'G'? Nice name ehz? So, even as G is called upon to take our orders, we saw her arm stretching...stretching..stretching into Ivan's face showing him the symbol of "Talk to my Hand!" and yes, she went off to somewhere else instead of taking our orders...so much for good service...

Been having suppers for the past days, Tink I got to start running soon else... the consequences will be fatal...I'd supper with Jean and Jeff last nite n we touched on the topics of kids. Imagine, Jean was saying she wants SEVEN kids, goodness...I juz sat in awe as she spoke that. Wad time was it when we left? 25mites past midnite, and yes I did, I caught the last bus home to rush my tutorial due in like 3 hrs time from now... haha... Enuff said here...got to go to my training land..

Lazy Day

B4 I embark on any typing, u see tat lovely lady in the picture there, we call her Joy not tat she brings much Joy into our lives but tat she tot she would like us to have her known as Joy for as a man confesses and thinkth so is he? (Alrite, a woman here) So Joy she is called, but Joy's parents call her Zhiwen and Zhiwen indeed they call. Juz like the Cedarian frenz she has, by the same token Zhiwen they pronounced yet there r some or so I heard who labelled her wenzhi(mosquito). Or is it an act of joke or was it a display of some 'read between the lines' thingy? I do not know, Joy the wenzhi or issit the Zhiwen the Joy or...the various permutations and combinations one can come up wif... The main issue here is tat one of my dearest fren whom I befrended in NUS titled JoyZhiwen aka Zhu-er is NOT I repeat NOT in anyway affliated to me by sexual or non-platonic relations? Even though she 'suck my blood' like a wenzhi does frm time to time...JUz for info, the pple always hanging ard r Xin, Zhu-er and DIng previously and now tat Ding got xported, I'd an import - wad they call Jonny, son of Koh. Oh well, great pple(ehz, insect for one) they r I muz admit although frm time to time there's display of hmm.. unjoyness? due to various reasons like work stess and PERIODICALLY some other stuff.

So wad is BOBBY doing here doing farni blogs instead of being the grand O' Magnificent NUS listening to the sacred teachings of Philosophy on Liberty? Oh well, I felt liberated to sleep in tdy, aircon was cool and I was snuggling under my quilt so comfortably until the all so familiar voice came to me..."Qi(3) lai(2) le(4)!" The beautiful voice of Mrs Goh, yea, my mum: So I told her me aint attending sch, gonna stay hm n appreciate my surroundings n she gave me tat "Wadeverz" look but the nice lady as usual prepared breakfast for her dearest Bobby b4 she left for work.

Sighz, I ought to be preparing for my bloody Linguistics test tomolo.. So I am signing out...

Once again I say, Thnxs Joi, Sin, Juni for u know wad n not to forget the AL too! Oh yes, my BF* too :) Yayz for Ivan!

I don't want you to come...

I received a disheartening message over the pone "No..I don't want you to come. Don't come down."

My dear fren, let's call the person AL: I called AL like say at 6+ in the evening. Prior to tat, I msged her askin "Birthday..how?" And after a few exchanges of messages, I gave her a call asking "I go down now lah?!" as in going down to the canteen for her birthdae but the reply I got was as above...

Then I pondered...hmph...did I say or do anithing wrong to warrant such cold replies? The only thing I could remember was tat she saw me earlier in one of the buildings in school but I quite obviously didn't see her (knowing the oblivous me) else I would have said HI! Is she upset over tat? I dun tink so...tat's too trivial...oh well, guess I've got to leave this aside and wait till AL is ready to talk?

Stayed in this book infested place situated above what sounded classy "The Forum" in one of the 3 state universities (it is supposed to be a grand thing to be enrolled in one of them since the population proportion is like 1:1 000 000?)...U Got it! NUS central Library trying to do some EL1101E revision, for those who do not know wad tat is, it is one of the modules I am taking for English. Hmph...linguistics more like it! Yea, I was with my latest import, Jonny. But ended up spending a large bulk of the time doing up my tag board n stuff for my blog in case pple like Empress Ba and xinalong wanna tag me a little not as though they dun tag me enuff in sch! =)

Had dinner, and finally price of eggs went down a little, so i saved a huge THIRTY cents for dinner! Had a talk wif Jon abt the gd old army days and well, when ya out of it, it seems so fun...but oh well...

As I took the latest addtion to the transport system of the nation, a technology tat constantly broke down a couple mths back...wad we proudly call the 'NEL', I was tinking abt what I had been graciously assigned to do: A beautiful persuasive thru reasoning essay for my module "Reason and Persuasion" (some philo stuff)and after much pondering n tinking n analysising and...I came to no conclusion. How much sometimes I wish I can tink not but does one not have to tink abt not thinking in order to tink tat he is not actually thinking? Thinking the things tat is worth thinking and thru thinking abt issues, we tink abt their degrees of certainties and with tat using the reasons/doubts we tink, we tink otherwise...oh well...think..

The person I am stardeeing abt 'Rene Descartes' left me with something worth thinking abt...

This is indeed the term, the Noun (N) best used in an adjctive(adj) sense to describe me(N)! Amoema, a uni-cell creature dependent on itself to multiply. It seems that u can draw a parallel between an amoeba and Bobby.

Bobby has been trying over the years to learn to feel but it seems like he cannot. He can feel JOY in all sense; he can feel happy, he can laff... ha ha ha...but one sad thing is that he can't cry. Emotions of sadness seemed to have departed from him. He knows no such emotions!

Oh yes, even if he feels happy, he cannot seem to stay with a single soul or be committed to one person for long. His BF (best fren) would have agrreed with all of his heart, soul and mind. There are juz so many nice girls in Bobby's life yet he never ever seem to be able to be in 'love' with them. Is he oppressing/supressing his feelings. Oh well, once he tot so but he came to a conclusion tat he did not...

Bob realised this emotional problem when his beloved granny passed into the next world on 14th Dec 2002. He heard the news and was shocked coz it was least expected since his granny was not suffering in hospital n stuff..totally unprecedented! Apart frm the SINGLE tear dropped on hearing the news, Bobby shed no tear thruout the wake, during cremation and even till today. The scariest thing is his granny is the cloest person on earth to him..YES! even closer than his own parents yet he could not xpress this sorrows...

Now, as he moved on into uni, he begun to wonder with a tot tat he once grabbled with...Is he gay? Oh well...he nids to spend more time pondering on this...meanwhile...

Water!

I love water...one of the most beautiful elements created...

I read somewhere "Want to be healthy? Get yr food WET!" So, instead of bacon, take ham and stuff like tat and u r likely to be more resistent to ails like u know..cancer, heart probs and the list goes on. Drink enuff water daily (issit 5 glasses minimally?) acts as anti oxidants to rid n cleanse yr body of toxics, especially when u drink one full glass first thing in the morning when u wake up! Or how abt this, drinking enuff water prevents u frm dehydration and strokes n other heat injuries.

More than juz health, water's fun too... "Want to spice up yr SEX life? Add water to it!" Having some steamy fun in the bathroom, or licking liquid stuff of the body... oh well..the kinkiness of it is enuff to drive some wild and hot!

When it rains, issit not nice to juz cuddle and lay in bed under the quilts enjoying the aircon? Is it not so that when there is someone to cuddle with u in such weather that it will be nicer still?

But...I hate water too... I hate it when it rains esp when I want to go for a swim! I hate liquid food for they taste so bland n untasty! I hate water when I am feeling down n miserable (not tat it happens often) and it is raining heavily! I hate water when I choke on them! I hate water when I first learnt to swim! I hate water when I had to do water parades in army! I hate water when I have to set up water points for the guys! I hate water when I am on 'drip'. I hate water when I see my family, frenz in tears! I hate water ...

But I love water also...the distinction is blurred. The symbol of prosperity n peace, the symbol of health, joy and warmth and gentleness. It is also the symbol of destruction, of pains, agony, anguish, obstacles, challenges etc! Water.. is it good? I have failed to conceive a proper notion of it... "Trust not your senses, for they may deceieve" someone once said... "Trust..."

Praising God!

Delicated to those esp 2 of whom I know who are undergoing feelings of sadness, defeat, depressions...

"These days I have spoken to you, that in me You may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." Jn 16 : 33

God works in a way that sometimes when we pray, manifested answers come not immediately. Instead we might first face tribulations, trials or even we might feel as though God has denied our requests.
Yupz, God sometimes delay it. Other times, we might be placed in situations where they are contradicting and we might have contradicting people placed in our lives.

"through whom alo we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produce perseverance; and perseverance, character and character, hope." Rom 5 : 2-4

"Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance , so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise;" Heb 10 : 35-36

In many verses in Psalms talk about not losing your faith language and the language of Faith is Praise. Ps 150:6 "Let everything that has breadth praise the Lord! Praise the Lord"

Sometimes u wunder...how to praise God when u r in bad situations.. Praise him for the wisdom endowed upon u to resolve crisis etc.

"Let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing" Ps 107:22

"Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them: Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loose" Acts 16:24-26

SO wad to do when u r in the prison of life? Praise God for only thru that will things begin to happen.

Alrite...old testaments..let's look at Jonah:
"Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights" Jonah 1:17

Jonah met with the plight with the fish.

In Jonah 2:3-6, he was praying 'religiously' to God, in some sense whining to God but look on to v. 9 in Jonah 2,
"But I will sacrifice to you with the voice of thanksgiving..."

When he praised God did the fish spat him out on dry land(v.10)

"Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct alright, I will show the salvation of God" Ps 50:23

Your conduct muz be ALRIGHT! Praise not whine!

2 Chro 20:17-22

The Beauty of the Jews

As I read this, I began to tink wad wondeful pple these pple muz be.. a product of the promise of God and these pple the bible talks abt translates to the Jews. For those non christian reading this, well...u might not find it interesting but christian faith aside, I tink the Jews went thru a time as shown in history a trememdous time tat no words nor deeds can be used to make relative comparisons.

So it goes..the beautiful hostory of the Jews begun say ard 333 B.C, Alxeander the Great conquered the whole of Middle East. AD70, Roman General Titur destroyed Jerusalem. By AD135, the Jewish pple were totally expelled from the Palestine. They began to scatter all over Europe.

By the 11th century, the Jews became the top merchants and traders in Europe. At this juncture, Jerusalem was still under the control of the Byzantine Empire (eastern portion of the Roman Empire). 1070- Turks captured Jerusalem. The Byzantine Emperor immediately appealed to the Pope for help. In 1905, Pope Urban (the second) came up wif an idea. He called for a religious crusade to free Herusalem from all Jews and Muslims.

By 1300s, Jew accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake. By the 14th century, England and France expelled the Jews and they started moving eastwards to Germany. 1348 --> the bubonic plague hit Europe (the 'black death') Guess who was blamed for the plague? U got it ...

In 1478, King Ferdinand (the fifth) and Queen Isabella (the first) started the Spanish Inquisition. 1492-97, the expelled Jews header for Italy, Holland, North Africa, Turkey, Palestine and South America. Others moved further east to Austria, Poland and Lithuania. In 1516, in Venice, all Jews were forced to live in walled up areas - the 'ghetto'.

1700s, Western Ecurope entered a period - "Enlightentainment" (readings from Soci..=)hahahah ) 1800s, W.Europe plunged into revolution. Industrial Revolution began.. time of opportunity for Jews and they became leaders in economics, maths and esp medicine.

Russia: Assassination of Czar Alexander (second) in 1881 unleashed nationalist feeling and anti-Jewish riots called 'pogroms' spread across the country. From 1881, Jews migrated out of E.Europe towards West. Most carried dreams of sailing across the Atlantic towards the US.

Interesting facts : "Give me the Poor, Tired and Hungry" - Stature of Liberty (this was inscribed by the Jews) & Hollywood was started by the Jews.

1871, Germans theoried that Jews muz be blamed for every prob in the world. In 1903, Russians produced a book "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion," a fictitious book on a conspiracy by Jews to dominate the world. In 1890, Austrian Jewish philosopher Nathan Birnbaum began to popularize the word 'Zionism'. In 1893, Theo Herzl, a Hungarian born Jewish hournalist was sent to Paris to cover a scandalous court case between a French and Jewish officeer. The French officer, Major Esterhazy was guilty of seeling military secrets to Germany but a Jewish Captain, Alfred Dreyfus was convicted. The mob shouted "Deathj to Dreyfus! Death to the Jews!"

The Ottaman Empire(Turkey) ruled Palestine sinc, captured Jerusalem exactly 400 years later on 1917.
Balfour Declaration:

"His Majesty's Government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavours to faciliate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine, or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in anyother country."

In 1922, British separated Palestine into 2 territories: the Emirate of Tansjordan (now Jordan) and Palestine. During the period of the British (1922-48), the Jewish settlements in Palestine grew from 50K to 600K.

In a White Paper of May 1939, the Arab in Palestine was guaranteed that there would only be a furter immigration of 75K of Jews for 5 years and after tat, additional entry dependent on Arab consent. By May 1942, the world was horrified by the Holocaust.

Out of the 11 million Nazis had killed, 6 million were Jews. Of the Jews, 1.5 million were children! In fact, in 1948, the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to prevent a repeat of Holocaust upon any other human race.

On Nov 29 1947, the UN passed Resolution 181, which called for a partition of Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states. Israel owed its existence to a unique set of circumstances:
1. Western sympathy for Jewish suffering.
2. Political influence of American Jews in securing the support of President Harry S. Truman
3. British's loss of will to continure its rule in Palestin
4. The determination of the Jews to immigrate back to build their own state.

#1 The War of Independence in 1948
Arab forces = armies of Egypt, Transjordan, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Palestinian guerrillas. On day 1 - May 14, 1948 - Israel was born as a cimplete nation with its own government , armed forces etc.

#2 The Sinai Campaign in 1956
Egypt refused to allow Israeli ships to use the Suex Canal which Israel came to regard as an act of war. Suez was jointly owned by Britain and France then. In Oct tat yr, Israel invaded Gaza Strip and Sinai Peninsula defeating Egyptian forces. Britain and France attacked as well a few days later. UN mediated a truce and the troops withdrew end of 1956.

#3 The 6 Days War in 1967
In 1967, Egypt, Syria and Jordan massed their armies on Israel's borders. Several other states called for war too. Assuming the Arabs would attack, Israel struck first in Jun 1967! Israel gained control of West Bank, Sinai Peninsular, Gaza Strip, Golan Heights and Jerusalem.

#4 The Yom Kippur War of 1973
#5 The Lebanon Invasion in 1982

The OSLO Accords
1. A gradual transfer of power to Palestinians.
2. Further agreements in 1994-95 gave Palestinians autonomy over most aspects of life in the Gaza Strip and cities of West Bank.
3. Lives of Palestinians governed by Palestinian National Authority (PNA)
4. Israel would conduct further withdrawals from the rural areas of West Bank
5. Only if all these successful, talks will begin for the final status of the Palestinian areas.

1994: Jordan and Isarel signed peace treaty.
1995: Israeli PM Yitzhak Rabin assassinated by Israeli student opposed to the peace process. Under Israeli PM Benjamin Natanyahu, peace process stalled in 1997.
1999: Natanyahu defeated by Labor Party leader Ehud Barak during elections. He was in turn defeated by Ariel Sharon in 2001
